You know when they send your child home from school with a seed in a little cup that is a part of a lesson they are learning in class? Usually that little seed grows a little and then we forget about it after a week and it dies. Am I right? Well Brody was sent home a little cup with a sunflower seed and for some reason we really planted it and in a place with water and good sunlight. You know what happened? It grew and grew and grew into this beautiful sunflower. Can you believe how tall it is? What a great lesson for my little guy, he loved seeing the changes that happened every day and it finally opened up yesterday morning. So even though you have a lot going on and it's easy to leave that little cup and seed in the corner of your kitchen, take it out and plant it. Give it a chance and watch it grow!

sweet boy
old but all-time

I am going back a little over a year to this post. Yesterday I was thinking about how this really is one of my all time favs. This little storage bin keeps all of our crayons, pencils and markers together in one place and it also helps me stay on top of making sure I throw out old markers that don't color anymore before I add new ones to the bin. I had to post it again because it's something we use every day! Maybe I need to do a weekly post about an old fav that is still a must-have!

it's time

We just got the Chasing Fireflies Halloween catalog in the mail which means we start brainstorming ideas for Halloween costumes!! And if you have been a reader of mine, then you know we LOVE Halloween and we love making our kids costumes every year. I really can't explain our fascination with it but it gives us something to look forward to. Time to start thinking Halloween.

good deal

I had to share this deal for my friends who love good shoes and want to save some money on them. TinySoles is offering $20 for $40 worth of shoes for kids. I would say most of their shoes are around $40 so you are basically getting a great pair for half off or saving $20 on your purchase. See the deal here.

next project
While browsing Anthropologie the other day (that place is still a slice of heaven to me) we came across this lovely book, The Repurposed Library: 33 Craft Projects That Give Old Book New Life.
I have a love of books that I think came from the womb. In fact I have my own little library packed in boxes for the day I can build beautiful bookshelves. While browsing the pages my hubby and I came across this image below.
This beautiful book bookshelf is our next home project... isn't it beautiful? There were some other beauties too that we hopefully can recreate.

blending
What do you do with those bananas that are getting old? You peel them, put them in a freezer bag and then use them to make yummy smoothies when the time is right! No ice needed. Today's smoothie was bananas, blueberries, a peach and some orange juice (yes I had to buy juice to make smoothies). My favorite summertime treat!

i can't wait

I had no idea that Forever 21 had little girls clothes! I walked into a store up in LA over the weekend and fell in love. Only bad part for me is that it looked like the smallest size was for a size 5 and my baby girl is a 3, but soon! Kids grow so quickly and for so many items it's great to have something fashionable and fun for less. I can't wait!
