cooking things up

Piper got this kitchen from Target for Christmas. We love it! Sure, it's not Pottery Barn Kids but it's darn cute and she has so much fun.

She also got these plates/bowls and cookware set from Ikea. what a great buy. The plates/bowls are $9.99 for a 12 pack (they feel like ceramic but they are made of tough stoneware) and the cookware set is $9.99 for 4. Seriously so cute to watch them play!

christmas list

I just got finished making Brody & Piper's Wish Lists for Christmas. What a great way to share what your kids want with family! We went to the store last night and walked the aisles to pick out some of their favorite things. The store's registry guns were not working, so I made a list myself with brand names and toy names and then made the Wish List online. It's so easy! I think the best part is that we put a variety of toys and price points on there and it takes the stress off of your family to find that perfect toy. They still get to pick or at least have suggestions if they want to go off the list!

still love it

This pram from Pottery Barn Kids is one of my favorite gifts Piper has received. She played with it when she started walking and I know she will keep playing with it for years to come. It's not cheap at $79, but I think over the years we will get our money's worth. Plus it's so cute, it still looks great hanging out in my living room. I keep this stroller inside so as to keep it clean as long as I can, we have this stroller for outside fun.

so excited!

This doll bed from Pottery Barn Kids is $49 (on sale from $69), plus an additional $19 for the bedding.

This doll bed is $19 at Ikea and the bedding is included.

I am a huge fan of Pottery Barn Kids and love to buy all their doll stuff. But I couldn't pay the price they wanted for their doll bed, sale or not! So we bought the Ikea doll bed and we can't wait to paint it white and maybe make some cute new bedding. No matter what we do it can't come close to what it costs at PBK, but I know when I'm done with it it will look just as cute and it will be a great surprise for Piper on Christmas morning! Hooray!

the best

I cannot believe I didn't post about Playmobil earlier! These are the best toys. Brody is 4 years old now and it's the perfect play toy for him. He's too young to really play with Legos and build things properly, but he's old enough for pretend play and to have big-boy figures. We got him the airport for his birthday, and man they make quality toys. We are so impressed with every detail they put into their parts, even a bathroom on the airplane. There are a lot of tiny pieces so I keep it in a closet and we bring it out to the kitchen table for him to play. I highly recommend their products and they are best to buy directly online here so you can see everything they have for each collection. Toys R Us carries a limited selection and mostly just small boxes. Totally worth the money and for a boy or girl!

Leap Frog, Leapster 2

For Christmas Brody got the Leap Frog, Leapster 2. All the kids in the neighborhood have their own video game systems like the Nintendo DS and I knew it was time to get Brody something, but he's definitely too young for what the bigger kids are playing. We ended up getting the Leapster 2, which is for 4-8 years old and is very educational. Brody is 3 1/2, so we knew it might be a bit advanced for him, and some of the games are just a little bit hard. But, he plays with it and has the best time and I know that he will continue to grow into it. I was very happy with this purchase and I know it will only get better as he grows older and learns more of the skills.

Gloworm

Did you have a gloworm when you were little? I did and I remember loving it. We just bought the baby the new miniature version by Playskool and I adore it already. I have been wanting to find that one object that I can always put in her bed with her, especially for nights where we are at someone else's house and she is not in her crib. You just squeeze it, the face lights up and it plays soothing lullabies.  It's simple and sweet just like my baby girl. It was only $9.99 at Target and worth every penny so far. I'm hoping it will provide her a little bit of security. It's for 0-12 months. I can almost remember the song in the commercials from when I was little!
