bright and organic

I am kind of obsessed with the The Little Seed line of organic baby clothes at Target. However, I haven't actually purchased anything... yet. It's just that the colors are so bright and beautiful, I am immediately drawn to them. And if you have never heard of The Little Seed before, I'm sure you know one of the founders. Anyone watch Punky Brewster when they were little? I did!!! Well Soleil Moon Frye is one of the founders and the original eco-friendly store is in LA. Anyhow, Little Seed will be at Target through October 16th.

cute and good for the environment

I heard about this adorable Protect Our Water poster via Design Mom on her daily post on babble. It raises funds for the Gulf Oil Spill victims and helps educate and inspire kids to protect our environment. 50% of proceeds go to the National Wildlife Federation's Gulf Oil Spill Restoration Fund and along with the print you get a $10 gift certificate to ChildrenInspireDesign (the designer of this poster). Poster is $30 for an 8x10 and $35 for an 11x14.

my love is growing

Do you remember this picture from my 30 Things? It was the garden I planted. Just some tomato and bell pepper plants in a container on our patio. We tried the Topsy Turvy, but it couldn't get enough light where we could hang it. So I was excited to really plant some things.

Well I am so excited to report that I have tomatoes and bell peppers growing! I love my little garden and it is giving me such a feeling of accomplishment. Want to see?

look how big my garden is growing

These plants prove why I think it is important to try new things and challenge yourself. They make me so happy and even though the world of gardening is overwhelming, I am taking it one plant at a time and starting out with easy plants in small containers. I love my little vegetables!

lovelies

Today I stole a few quiet moments and started Getting the Pretty Back by Molly Ringwald. I'll let you know how it is!

I also wanted to share with you the Harajuku Lovers school supplies at Target right now, cute right? I know they are meant for girls much younger than me, but I love cute folders and little notepads. They were cheap too! I know they will be gone soon so get them while you can.

Look at this website my sis sent me. Looks amazing and I think they must sell just about anything you could want for any type of party. I haven't even begun to wrap my head around it because I have been so busy, but I am definitely going to dive in soon! Bookmark it!

today is a new day

"We all have the power to change our lives." -Jillian Michaels

We all falter, we all forget that anything is possible and we all forget that we deserve to be happy. But change has to start within yourself. You have to want it and you have to be dedicated to your change. Will it be hard? Yes. Will you falter? Maybe. But you can do it (whatever IT is). We only get to live this one life and if you keep putting your change off.... there will never be a good time.

Today I am regaining control in a part of my life that I have slipped on and is making me overwhelmingly unhappy. How about you? Is there any part of your life that needs a change? I'll do it with you. We can do it together.

birthday games

I am always inspired by the fun things Cakies does to celebrate their holidays. I was particularly inspired after her Father's Day post. I whipped something up pretty last minute for Mark's birthday this year. I put together a scavenger hunt for him! My scavenger hunt included little gifts, rhyming clues and a pinata in the garage (all at 9am in the morning). I think he had fun and I know the kids had fun running around with him (especially when they were trying to figure out his "favorite place to sit" to get the next clue and realized it was the toilet). My favorite part was when we all had to wear the party hats and take a self-timed picture. We ended the scavenger hunt going to breakfast....it was perfect. A little creativity shows a lot of love!

By the way...Happy Birthday to the BEST husband. You are definitely my better half and you give this family so much love and happiness in everything you do. We love and adore you.

save save save

I was sent a link to this blog from my friend Monica. Here's what she had to say,

"A friend of mine is the coupon master and she sent me this site. This site has gotten me so many free samples, which saves you money on things that u have to buy, like lotion, shampoo etc. I found coupons for diapers and ended up getting 400 diapers for 39 bucks! Its amazing! Enjoy!"

Thanks Monica! I haven't had a chance to get my own freebies...but all of us moms need as much help as we can get in the savings department so I'm sharing with you first.

summer sweet

I love summer. I love summer clothes. This is one of my fav summer outfits for Piper and it was cheap! White camisole from Target, cute pink sweats on sale at Peek in Fashion Island and Old Navy flip-flops. Perfection!

highlights

Do you remember Highlights from when we were little. I use to LOVE getting the magazine in the mail. I signed up online for their new Puzzle Buzz for ages 4-7. I just received the first set in the mail and I can't wait for Brody to try them out. I looked through them and I know he's going to have so much fun. Best part about Highlights is that you can cancel at anytime. Check out their website, they have different kinds of magazines for different ages. Good for the summer!
